Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Tudor Players is a long-established amateur theatre group based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.  You can read more about our history here.

Since the founding of the group in 1967, our productions have been performed at The Sheffield Library Theatre, which is located on Tudor Square (formerly Tudor Way) in Sheffield city centre. We were named after this location which has been a core part of our history.

We have our own rehearsal studio and workshop in Attercliffe, close to the old Adelphi Cinema. Find us on Google Maps here.

We normally rehearse on Tuesday and Friday evenings, between 7.45pm - 10pm. Close to a show performance, we may arrange occasional additional rehearsals.

We perform three full-length plays each year, in February, June and October. We perform at the Sheffield Library Theatre.

Our performances are plays of a variety of styles, we are known for comedy, but also present drama, farce, thrillers and other styles.

We are not a musical theatre group, so you won't see us tackle a full-blown musical, but we will occasionally include a musical number if called for in the script!

For our next production of Wyrd Sisters in October 2025, you can contact our Box Office (details here) and book tickets by email, phone or post. Tickets are £13 (£12 for concessions).

For our 2026 season we will be introducing online ticket booking, so you will be able to book tickets on this website. We will continue to take bookings by email, phone and post if you prefer to book through these channels. Watch this space for more details!

The Sheffield Library Theatre is in the basement of the Central Library on the corner of Surrey Street and Tudor Square. The entrance is on the side of the building, next to the Lyceum Theatre. The location is marked on Google Maps here.

Unfortunately wheelchair access is not possible. More details at Sheffield City Council's website here.

Yes, there is a fully licenced bar, also selling tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks. Please note that this is run by Sheffield City Council and currently accepts cash only.

Our performances start promptly at 7.15pm. Doors are open from 6.45pm, you can enjoy drinks from the bar prior to the show.

There is an interval of approximately 20 minutes during the performance.

You can find articles, reviews, interviews, news, and features about Tudor Players productions, members and history. From 2026 you can also book tickets for our productions.

Tudor Players website is updated on a regular basis, with new content added daily or weekly depending on the category. You can also follow us on Facebook where we post regular updates about upcoming performances.
