Tudor Players is a long-established amateur theatre group based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK. You can read more about our history here.
Since the founding of the group in 1967, our productions have been performed at The Sheffield Library Theatre, which is located on Tudor Square (formerly Tudor Way) in Sheffield city centre. We were named after this location which has been a core part of our history.
We have our own rehearsal studio and workshop in Attercliffe, close to the old Adelphi Cinema. Find us on Google Maps here.
We normally rehearse on Tuesday and Friday evenings, between 7.45pm - 10pm. Close to a show performance, we may arrange occasional additional rehearsals.
We are a non-profit making organisation and registered charity. Our members are all volunteers, and anyone is welcome to become a member. The members elect a committee at the Annual General Meeting, comprising Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and other officers. The committee run the day-to-day activity of the group including the creative side, operation of our building as well as the finances and governance aspects.
We perform three full-length plays each year, in February, June and October. We perform at the Sheffield Library Theatre.
Our performances are plays of a variety of styles, we are known for comedy, but also present drama, farce, thrillers and other styles. You can see more about our past productions here.
We are not a musical theatre group, so you won't see us tackle a full-blown musical, but we will occasionally include a musical number if called for in the script!
The Sheffield Library Theatre is conveniently located in the city centre. The theatre is in the basement of the Sheffield Central Library. This is on Surrey Street / Tudor Square. The main entrance to the Library Theatre is on the Lyceum Theatre side of the building. The location is marked on Google Maps here.
