Whether you are an experienced actor or fancy trying something new, we want to hear from you! The Director leads the creative process of putting on a production, collaborating with the cast during rehearsals and working with the crew on set, sound and lighting design. While this role is typically filled by more experienced members of the group, we encourage anyone interested in theatre or who wants to learn to join Tudor Players and explore opportunities. Set design is an integral part of any production, and the designers work closely with the director to realize the vision for the show. Equally important are the team with the carpentry and artistic skills who build and decorate the sets. We invite you to join Tudor Players, whether you have experience or are looking for opportunities to learn new skills if you have no prior experience.

Our Sound and Lighting teams are key parts of the creative process at Tudor Players, designing the effects that help to create the look and atmosphere of a production. They also operate the technology which makes all of this happen! Whether you are interested in the creative or technical aspects, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved!

At Tudor Players, we have an extensive prop store and costume wardrobe at our Attercliffe studio. However, for each production, we seek creative individuals to join Tudor Players and take on roles that involve sourcing and building new props, as well as making or adjusting costumes to meet the needs of the play. No experience is necessary, making this a fantastic opportunity for those looking for volunteer opportunities in the theatre!

The Stage Manager runs the production during the performance, ensuring all of the cast and crew are present and on time. This crucial role involves communicating with front of house, opening the curtains, cueing sound, lights, and special effects, as well as supervising scene changes during the performance. For more ambitious productions with multiple scene changes, the stage crew at Tudor Players are responsible for moving furniture and props into place in the most efficient and unobtrusive way possible—if it's done right, you hardly notice! This is a great way to get involved and learn about theatre.

Our marketing activity is very broad and includes a range of online and traditional media. If you want to join Tudor Players, come and help with: designing and printing programmes, posters, and flyers; managing our website and social media feeds; online promotion through 'what's on' sites; compiling press releases for local publications, and lots more to get involved in!

We are at an exciting stage in our ticketing journey, as we have recently launched our online ticketing service for the first time. This gives our audience the option of booking online with a credit or debit card and receiving tickets by email. Additionally, we will continue to maintain personal contact with audience members who prefer to book by phone or email and receive paper tickets.

Led by our Front of House Manager, our friendly Front of House team welcomes the audience to the theatre. They check tickets, direct people to their seats, sell raffle tickets, take coats, and distribute programmes. This is a great way to get involved in Tudor Players without the commitment of a role in the cast or backstage crew.

Our committee, elected by our membership, consists of volunteers who take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Tudor Players. These dedicated members ensure that our productions go ahead, our building is maintained, and finances are sound. The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, and other committee members are vital roles that help keep the show on the road. In addition to our dedication to delivering high-quality theatre productions, we also create an engaging community for those who join Tudor Players. Throughout the year, we organize regular social events for our members, which include a summer barbeque, fireworks in November, and a Christmas party. We also organise occasional theatre trips and meals or pub visits during our own show weeks, allowing members to enjoy a variety of social events.
